Women’s treats for a quick break

The last couple of weeks have been very women focused, with International Women’s Day, which took place last Thursday, and Mother’s Day this Sunday, I (Sophie) thought that this week would be the perfect time to either just treat yourself to a day or weekend out with the girls, or give you some general ideas of how to gift your mother and show her how much you appreciate her.

Every woman loves to be treated to a good pampering session, so why not book your mum or yourself and a group of mates into a spa day or weekend and give your body and mind that spring-clean that you’ve been craving. It didn’t take me long looking around online to find some good deals on spas, check out which lists many special offers all around the UK, starting from as little as £79 per night with an hour’s treatment and full use of spa and leisure facilities.

If spas aren’t your thing and you fancy something a bit more adventurous, throw of your stilettos and try a tree top adventure with your gang of girls Go Ape. This monkey inspired adventure will have you doing something a bit “off the beaten track” as you fly through forests on a zip wire, climb up net ladders and test your tolerance of heights. With 28 Go Ape parks located in forests across the UK, you’ll never be too far away. I personally have tried 2 and really enjoyed them one at Whinlatter Forest, near Keswick and the other at Grizedale Forest in the Lake District. The staff were incredibly friendly and I never felt endangered as the safety briefs were really thorough and clear.

Perhaps though, you’re a real foodie and want to splash out on a posh meal for your beloved mother. Take her for lunch on Sunday, and foot the bill, she’ll be sure to appreciate it. I would recommend booking now as restaurants are going to be filling up quickly towards the end of this weekend and into next week. If you’re stuck for ideas of where to take your mother, have a look at some of our destination articles which now cover much of the UK. Whether you’re taking her to the best restaurant in town, or going for a walk in the country side followed by the areas best fish & chips, I have sourced some great places around the UK to eat out as well as things to do in some of the UK’s best visitor cities.

So make the most of this womanly week and treat yourself, it’s the perfect excuse to catch up with the girls that you haven’t seen for a while or show your dear old mum how much you love her!
